Below you will find our newsletter for the months of July to September. Here are a few things that happened since the beginning of July.
A New Brother in Christ
Many of you have followed Gregory’s journey over the years. He was deeply encouraged to know how many of you prayed for his surgery and healing. We praise God that his vision has now been almost fully restored!
Even more importantly, on August 3, Gregory was baptized—a public declaration of his desire to follow Christ. It has been a joy to witness not only this special moment, but his entire journey of spiritual growth.
Gregory is now living with his family in another part of Kenya. He continues to study the Bible on his own, though there is no church nearby. He will still require another surgery for the removal of a minor tumor and orbital reconstruction. Please continue to lift him up in prayer
Discipleship
At Embrace, the boys are regularly exposed to God’s Word through devotions, Bible studies, and personal mentorship. For those who show a deeper desire to know Christ, we offer one-on-one discipleship with our staff. These precious times allow for deeper study, discussion of life challenges, and prayer.
Off the Streets and Into Care
Boys typically come to Embrace through:
- Referrals from the Government Children’s Office or Police
- Partner organizations
- Direct rescue from the streets
In the past three months, we have received 21 new boys, exceeding our capacity of 30 beds. By God’s provision, we added 6 new bunk beds (12 beds) to welcome them. Last month, we had 37 boys in our care—the highest number in our history.
Reintegration
Reintegration is a long and delicate journey, involving home visits, counselling, and reconciliation. By God’s grace, 7 boys have been reunited with their families in recent months, beginning new chapters of hope in their communities.
Boys at Home – Testimonies & Challenges
Wilson — home for almost 3 years, Wilson’s family struggles with extreme poverty, especially food scarcity. He seeks weekend jobs to provide for the household. His stepfather often speaks harshly, telling him he is not his son and has no inheritance. Please pray for strength and encouragement for Wilson.
Joel has faced deep family rejection and has run away three times. He now lives with his maternal grandmother, though she struggles to provide food. Despite these challenges, Joel enjoys school and is supported through Embrace’s feeding programme. Pray for lasting peace and stability for him.
Calvin is living with his grandfather and Calvin is thriving both spiritually and academically. He faithfully follows the Bible reading plan provided by Embrace and eagerly participates in activities. We thank God for the healthy bond in his home.
John’s difficult situation: During a home visit, John’s father—deeply rooted in tribal traditions—became angry about Christian teachings and refused to allow his son to return to Embrace. A confrontation led to police involvement, and John was returned to his father in tears. We continue to follow up through the Children’s Office. Pray for God to protect his heart and draw his father to truth.
Foster Care
In our last newsletter, we shared about children with no safe family to return to. In partnership with the Children’s Department, we have launched a Foster Care Programme to place such boys in loving Christian homes.
The greatest challenge is finding families willing to open their hearts. We are partnering with churches and pastors to share this vision. Please pray that God would raise up families to embrace these boys with Christ’s love.
Our Growing Team
In September, God blessed us with two new staff members!
- Israel – Caregiver, after completing a missionary internship
- Pius – Remote Social Worker in Western Kenya, supporting reintegrated boys and their families
Their passion and commitment have already been a tremendous blessing.
We thank God for every member of our team—please pray for grace, strength, and wisdom as they serve daily.
Staff Empowerment
We are committed to equipping our team spiritually and practically to serve with excellence.
Recently, we held a Confidentiality Training and hosted a Fire Safety Training for both staff and boys. A trained teacher led a seminar for our teachers and introduced new methods and ideas.
We also regularly assess our programmes and set improvement goals. These times of learning renew our vision and strengthen our ministry.
Visitors
Embrace joyfully welcomes visitors!
Kendall served at Embrace for 6 months in various programmes and departments and in July we said goodbye to her as she headed back home. She is missed and remembered for the impact she had on so many boys and staff! Recently, Ana and Bobi, missionaries from Uganda, served with us for two weeks. They ministered to the boys through lessons, activities, and testimonies, and they encouraged our staff with fellowship and support. What a gift visitors are to our ministry!
