Below you will find our newsletter for the months of January to March. Here are a few things that happened since the beginning of the year.
Reconnect Camp
For the second time in Embrace history, Kenyan Embrace staff, together with volunteers from Canada, organized a reunion camp for boys and their parents or guardians. It’s a true blessing to have been able to hold this camp again, continuing the vision of helping families “Re-connect” while introducing many to the gospel—some for the very first time.
Over three days, families participated in Bible lessons, discussions, team-building games, and skill-based workshops. Adults learned practical skills, while the boys enjoyed activities that encouraged teamwork and fun with old friends.
A highlight was watching parents and children laugh, play, and pray together—many experiencing such moments for the first time. The camp ended with a powerful evening of worship and mutual prayer, leaving lasting memories and deeper connections.
Embrace’s Fourth Year Anniversary!
As we look back on these four years, it is so evident that this is truly God’s ministry—upheld and sustained by the Lord. We continually witness God’s love and care for the boys, the staff, and the missionaries.
This past year brought many challenges, including financial difficulties, struggles with boys who have been placed, relapses, and stagnant cases. And yet, the Lord continues to provide and carry us through.
We’ve also seen so many blessings and answered prayers: boys being quickened by the Lord and coming to an understanding of the gospel, staff changes and additions, partnerships with new organizations to enhance our effectiveness in reintegrating boys back home, and visits from many international teams and missionaries. We were also blessed by local teams and visitors who brought donations and encouragement.
We are so grateful to the Lord for His consistent care and faithfulness for us here at Embrace.
Birthday Gift Safari Walk!
As a special birthday gift, the boys were taken on an exciting trip to a Safari Walk. It was truly heartwarming to see the big smiles on their faces, especially since many of them had never seen such animals in real life before. The experience was not only fun but also educational, sparking curiosity and joy in the boys. We all had a fantastic time, and it’s a memory that will surely stay with them for years to come.
Farewell to Two of our Staff Members
As the years go by, we gain and lose staff members. Unfortunately, two of our team members recently decided it was time to leave Embrace and pursue new opportunities. While we were sad to see them go, we are also excited for what the Lord has in store for them in this next chapter. Farewell, Washington and Alloys! Washington served faithfully as a Biblical Counsellor, and Alloys wore many hats—serving as a caregiver, counsellor, and more. They were truly valuable members of our team, and we are so grateful for the years of service they gave at Embrace.
We praise the Lord for how He used them here, and we pray He continues to bless them in whatever He has planned for their futures!
New Missionary
We are overjoyed to share that a new missionary joined our team this February! Although she won’t be staying long-term, she has been a tremendous help over the past few months. Her name is Kendall, and she’s here on a short-term mission trip until July. We praise the Lord for both short-term and long-term missionaries!
There’s always so much work to be done, and time and time again we see how the Lord sends help exactly when we need it. We’re always looking for more people to join our team—whether for a short-term mission or a long-term commitment!
Challenges
There are many joys to celebrate, but ministry also comes with its fair share of challenges—challenges that the Lord has been faithfully bringing us through. First, we’ve been struggling with finances. Since last year, there has been a significant drop in monetary donations, and we’ve had to make difficult decisions, cutting back and reassessing how we spend our resources.
Additionally, about eight boys ran away while traveling back from Reconnect Camp. So far, only a few have returned home on their own, while the rest are still on the streets. Also, some of our high school boys have been facing intense struggles. The temptations of drugs and alcohol have drawn a few back to street life. It’s heartbreaking to see them turn away from the opportunities in front of them due to the grip of addiction. We continue to pray that these boys won’t throw away the opportunity to build a better future. The enemy has a strong hold on some of them, but we know God is stronger. Please join us in praying for the boys who are staying at home, despite the many challenges they face. May the Lord give them strength to endure and turn to Christ in every difficult situation.
Boys Reintegrated
We started the year with a strong focus on reintegration! We praise the Lord for the hard work and dedication of our social workers and the entire team who make these placements possible. A great deal of effort goes into making each case a successful placement.
Since January, we have successfully reintegrated six boys back into their families: Mark Muthure, Calvin Dida, Dennis Katunzi, Kevin Kazilege, Simon Gachagua, and Joshua Emmanuel.
Yes, these boys have been placed, but the hardest part has only just begun for them. Going home comes with many challenges—from temptation to the struggles of poverty.
Please pray for them to stay strong through all the difficulties they may face, and that they will not seek refuge or answers by returning to life on the streets.
