In his own words
My name is Michael Edukan, and I was born on the streets of Isiolo. My life was all about drugs, and I often abused them with my mum. For nearly 14 years, I struggled with addiction, and many people tried to help me, but my strong addiction made them give up.
I ran to the streets of Nairobi, where I met Embrace. They rescued me, but I struggled with cravings for bhang and jet fuel. I ran away several times but always returned because I missed their support. They gave me a second chance, and that changed everything for me.
At Embrace, I joined a discipleship programme and learned about God, which transformed my life. When I moved in with my aunt, I faced new challenges in a neighbourhood full of drug use. I decided to stop spending time with friends who used drugs, and through prayer, I focused on school and church. Now, I have been free from drugs for two years, and I am grateful that my aunt allowed me to attend church, even though her family is Muslim. In church, I found love and purpose in serving God.
