I left home when I was seven years old because of my parents' separation. Life on the streets of Nairobi was tough, and soon I fell into drug addiction. For six long years, I struggled with addiction.
When I was 13, I met Embrace, and that would change everything for me. It wasn't easy at first. I faced many challenges, and there were times I ran away because of withdrawal symptoms. But at Embrace, I learned that my body is God's temple. Whenever I thought about drugs, guilt would wash over me for dirtying God's temple.
Even after leaving Embrace, I struggled for two more years. I ran away from home back to the streets three times. But I thank God for the Embrace social workers who were always ready to come and rescue me, no matter how many times I escaped.
One night, after returning home again from the streets, I prayed to God for help. I asked Him to help me deal with my struggles with drugs. From that moment on, I started taking my Bible reading seriously and engaging more with my church. This led to a complete change in my life.
I began to excel in sports at school, becoming the best in our region. This opened new doors and improved my relationships with my teachers, my pastor, and my family. The biggest blessing came when I was able to join one of the best senior secondary schools in Kenya. It has now been three years since I last thought about drugs, and I thank God for healing me.
